Hispaniola
(Haiti e Repblica Dominicana) no mar do Caribe. É localizado na parte oeste da ilha
e possui nove
províncias. Sua costa é recortada pelo Golfo de Gonves e
concentra várias ilhas, sendo as principais Gonve e Tartaruga. A ilha de
Hispaniola foi descoberta por Colombo (Espanha) em 1492. Na útima terça-feira, s 16:53 Hrs do Leste Americano, este pobre país do Caribe, foi sacudido por um terremoto na escala Richter 7, deixando a sua cidade capital, Port-au-Prince, completamente em ruínas e com milhares soterrados e mortos! Entre estes mortos, estavam os de muitos brasileiros que faziam parte do contigente da ONU em serviço de paz no Haiti!
Country in West India, the east of Central America, occupying one
third of the Hispaniola Island (Haiti and Dominican Republic) in the
Caribbean Sea. Haiti is located in the West side of the island and it
possesses nine provinces. Its coast is cut by the Gulf of Gonves and
concentrates various islands, from which the most important are Gonve
and Tartaruga. The Island of Hispaniola was discovered by Columbus
(Spain) in 1492.
Last Tuesday, at 4:53pm, American Eastern Time, this poor Caribbean
country was shaken by an earthquake of 7.0 magnitude on the Richter
scale, leaving its capital city, Port-au-Prince, completely in ruins and
thousands of dead bodies! Among these deceased, there were many
Brazilians who were part of ONUs contingent of peace keeping service in
Haiti! |
